On this day in history
“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”
This was said by the first woman to receive the noble prize, Marie Curie. Not only that, Marie Curie is one out of the two people to have bagged the Nobel prize in two different fields. We have all at some point, fantasized the idea of literally living and dying for our passions, well Marie actually did that. Her work in the discovery of radium and polonium, research in the field of radioactivity and contributions for finding treatments for cancer have largely helped the world. It is on this day in the year 1934, we lost this brilliant scientist to anemia, which she had contracted due to her extensive works in handling radioactive materials.
“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone: “so I can’t take more.”

The book continues to be a favorite among many fantasy lovers. The writer has created an amazing world inside a rabbit hole far different from the reality we experience and even with that managed to include meaningful quotes which could very well be applied to our reality.
On this day, Lewis Carroll created Alice in Wonderland for Alice Liddell on a family boat trip on the river Isis in Oxford. Though the book was a work of fiction, well it turns out Alice wasn’t. Lewis loved entertaining Alice and her siblings with stories and that is how he came up with the idea of this book.
