This made me smile today
May 7, 2022
Along the way of living my life, I have come to realize that being happy is a difficult task, it requires intentional effort to be happy every day.
When you are younger, you have certain ideas of what would make you happy when you grow up, most probably money so much that you do not have to worry about it, boarding the wrong train and bumping into Raj(SRK’s character from DDLJ), having good grades in school which your parents can show off to your relatives.
I have pretty much-achieved everything I thought would make me happy. Regarding money, I am not a billionaire yet but I make more money than I used to last year, by God’s grace. I have the grades which my parents occasionally do admire in front of their friends and family. Regarding Raj, I did board the wrong train once(not purposefully!) at 10 pm, well past my home curfew, and had to bring myself home all by myself, so I have given up the hope of finding Raj on the wrong train.
However, I am a highly self-critical person and on my bad days can be extremely harsh on myself. What I want to do now, is to smile at least once every day, and journal it. I want to see growth in my journey of self-acceptance, and this could be an amazing way to do it.
Why am I writing about it on a public platform? Probably, so that it makes your day too:) If it makes you smile do leave a comment below.
Okay now with the introduction in place, let me share what made me smile today.
While I was staring out of my window, I captured a bunch of kids helping a boy cycle. We all have had times our family or friends sometimes even a random stranger helps us while we struggling to move ahead.
In conclusion, I aim to write a post every day on one thing that made me smile that day, with the hope that at the end of the exercise I become more grateful and appreciative of myself as well as the people around me.
If you have read the article, thank you! I hope you have a good day :)
