Everybody I know, dreams of going on a vacation with their friends just like Imraan, Kabir and Arjun did in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Despite popular opinion, I loved Gully Boy and Murad, so much so that I ended up singing apna time aayega at a dumb charades event, the irony! Dil Dhadakne Do made us realize that we all have somewhat dysfunctional families and it is completely normal.

The best part about Zoya’s movies is that they have an appeal to the masses, along with having an inherent deeper message which you can take or leave.

Recently I watched Luck by Chance for the first time and I have been in awe of Zoya as a director ever since. Each character of the film has an individual arc and storyline. The movie shows Sona (Konkana) as an aspiring movie actor who is both vulnerable and fierce and Vikram (Farhan) as the person who has been working hard to make his mark in the Bollywood scene and eventually gets lucky because of Sona. The end is beautifully depicted as Sona making a choice of not running the rat race and being more content with her life.

More often than not we have cousins or friends who are ultra rich and classmates who are super beautiful, in both cases pure genetics playing the role, it can get frustrating at times. I mean given an alternate situation you could be in their exact same position, they are just lucky. Nevertheless, the reality of the matter is that life is not a levelled playing field and sometimes even if you put in your best work you may not win the trophy. The best we can do is accept the reality and make an optimum use of the current situation at hand.

The soundtrack of this film is pure gold. One particular line which I adore is

Bagiyan Bagiyan baalak bhaage, titli fir bhi haath na lage

Iss pagle ko kon bataye, dhund raha hai jo tu jag me, koi jo paaye to man me hi paaye

and

Aasaniyan mil sakti hai tujhko zamaane se, par zara ye bata jeena hai kya yu tujhe

Aazaadiyaan tu paayega khud ko hi paane se, fir bata koi dar mehsoos ho kyu tujhe

If you made it this far, thanks for reading along and if you liked what you read, do clap.
